It was invented in 1903 by Elizabeth Magie, a visionary woman who wanted to show how land monopolies could harm society. Her version, The Landlord’s Game, inspired what later became Monopoly, later popularized in the 1930s by Charles Darrow during the Great Depression.

Believe it or not, her goal was to teach how land ownership and smart investing shape our economy. And that photo—yes, that’s me at 7 years old! Already negotiating deals and dreaming big on the Monopoly board. Playing Monopoly at such a young age sparked my curiosity about real estate early on. The game taught me valuable lessons about property investment, negotiation, and financial strategy with all skills that still guide me today.
